Who We Are
flagpolelights.co.uk is a trading name of PDS Design Solutions Limited, founded in 1997. With decades of experience in professional LED lighting solutions, we specialise in high-quality, reliable, and energy-efficient flag pole lighting systems.
We initially entered the LED market through our sister company, www.online-leds.com. Due to increasing demand for LED lighting solutions designed specifically for telescopic flag poles, we launched a dedicated platform for this market — flagpolelights.co.uk.
Why LED Lighting
LED lighting offers up to 90% energy savings compared to traditional incandescent lighting. Today, LED solutions are widely used across industrial, commercial, and residential applications due to their efficiency, durability, and low running costs.
LED Strip & Tape Lighting
Our LED strip and LED tape lighting provides a versatile decorative and functional lighting solution. We primarily supply industry-leading SMD 5050 LEDs (Super Bright LEDs), SMD 5050 RGB LEDs (colour-changing), and SMD 3528 LEDs.
The key difference lies in their construction and brightness: SMD 5050 LEDs measure 5.0mm × 5.0mm and contain three LED chips per package, delivering significantly higher brightness than SMD 3528 LEDs, which measure 3.5mm × 2.8mm and contain a single LED chip.
All of our LED strips are supplied on 5-metre reels with 60 LEDs per metre (300 LEDs per reel). We recommend verifying LED density when comparing products, as this directly impacts performance and brightness.
12V LED Applications
All our LED strip lighting operates on a nominal 12V DC, making it ideal for motorhomes, caravans, cars, boats, canal boats, and other 12V environments. When used indoors, a dedicated 12V LED driver (power supply) converts mains AC to safe 12V DC operation.
Colour Options & Control
Our LED strips are available in single-colour options, as well as 5050 RGB and RGB+W colour-changing variants. These include 16 preset colours and multiple lighting programmes, allowing users to select a specific ambience or enjoy smooth colour-fading effects using a handheld remote control.
Installation & Customisation
All our LED strips — including 5050, 5050 RGB, and 3528 — can be cut to size. Cut points are clearly marked every 50mm (every 3 LEDs) on the PCB. Connections can be made by soldering or by using our dedicated LED connectors: 10mm connectors for 5050 and RGB strips, and 8mm connectors for 3528 strips.
Waterproof LED strips require removal of the protective epoxy coating at the cut point to allow proper connector attachment.
Accessories & Support
Our flexible LED strips feature a strong double-sided adhesive backing for fast installation. We also supply mounting clips, LED dimmers, controllers, amplifiers, and a wide range of accessories. Our team is always available to provide expert guidance — please contact us if you need assistance.
